Money, Status, Credit – What Defines You?

This item was filled under [ Spending Control ]

What defines you I ask?  Just like every other red blooded American, I find myself struggling with the need to achieve.  Now, I don’t necessarily mean climbing Mount Everest.  I do mean feeling as if I have made a positive impact on myself, my family, and the world around me, every day.  Most everything comes with a price, something has to be traded for it.  Be it time, energy, or money, it still is an expense.

As a young woman, I thought I needed a nice home, cars, education, credit cards, a career.  As I achieved those “accomplishments”, I found myself oddly dissatisfied with life.  I had everything a reasonable grown woman could want.  Houses, cars, recreational vehicles, the ability to go on vacations, so what was my problem then?  I had learned that what I thought defined me as a successful person was not the credit cards, loans, vehicles, or houses.  I am finding that it is my contribution to the world around me.  The simple things in life.  As I work to pay off my debt, I am finding that the people I am associated with are changing all for the better.

The life choices we make will indeed be apart of our definition.  I am finding that my decision to work toward a debt free life also brought to light a desire to be economically and environmentally conscious, more caring toward life as a whole, and toward my fellow man.  I hope that as you begin to find peace you will also seek the most rewarding things in life.  Remove debt and credit, change one spending habit at a time, seek wealth in a safe systematic way that will not only net you good returns but offer a variety toward your investments.  Finally, give to others less fortunate, the returns will be beyond imagine.
